Digital and graphic design are no longer confined to static forms. With technology advancing rapidly, designers now have tools that allow them to push the boundaries of creativity. What once required painstaking, manual effort can now be achieved with digital precision, and yet, the soul of design remains unchanged—it’s still about communicating ideas, emotions, and stories.
In Malta, this fusion of traditional influences with digital advancements can be seen in how contemporary designers approach their craft. Local graphic designers are drawing from their cultural heritage, combining it with cutting-edge tools to create visual languages that speak to both the past and the future. Whether it’s through typography, branding, or interactive media, the digital world has opened up new avenues for expression.
Take the rise of augmented reality (AR) in exhibitions or the use of AI in design processes. These tools allow for the creation of experiences that are immersive and interactive, bringing audiences closer to the work itself. At designMT, this exploration of digital and graphic design will take centre stage, highlighting how digital tools are transforming the creative process across all fields—from product design to architecture.
As we move deeper into the digital age, designers are not just adapting but embracing the possibilities offered by new technologies. They are crafting experiences that are not only visually stunning but deeply engaging, with the potential to transform how we interact with the world around us. designMT will offer a glimpse into this future, showcasing how digital design is shaping industries and influencing the way we live, work, and play.

designMT is organised by the Malta Crafts Foundation with the support of Arts Council Malta, Heritage Malta, the Industrial Property Registrations Unit, Malta Digital Innovation Authority, and Malta Tourism Authority, and in collaboration with the Golden Glitch, Kamra tal-Periti, Spazju Kreattiv, and the Valletta Cultural Agency, with Lovin Malta as Media Partners. The event unites designers, architects, and creatives to explore the blend of tradition and innovation across architecture, fashion, digital art, and more, while celebrating Malta’s cultural heritage.
